The family of Brady is uniting to raise money for his telomerase vaccine therapy, the one chance in saving him from K9 Lymphoma!

Brady (yes, named after the great Tom Brady) is our loving, practically-human German Shepherd. He has just turned five years old and is currently receiving telomerase vaccine therapy at the Veterinary Specialty Center of the Hudson Valley. Brady was diagnosed with lymphoma this past July, just a month after losing his best pal Molly (our older German Shepherd who passed in June.)

Brady was in full remission after a 17-week chemotherapy, and we were thrilled! Sadly enough, his lymphoma returned in December at a MORE advanced stage, and the only hope to save his life (as there is no cure for this devastating disease!) was to give Brady a novel immunotherapy (a telomerase vaccine) that showed a great promise in a recently published study (see below). Currently, this therapy is only available in one place in the country, at the Veterinary Specialty Center of the Hudson Valley in NY. Also, the vaccine can only be given to dogs in remission, which is more difficult to achieve when a dog has relapsed because cancer cells build resistance to chemotherapy with each round.

As of now, Brady was lucky enough to have achieved the second remission. And with the help of generous donations from friends, family, and lots of complete strangers, we were able to raise the money for him to start the immunotherapy! Currently, we travel from Webster, MA to VSCHV in Wappingers Falls, NY (a 3-hour trip!) every two weeks for his treatment. Thus far, he has received three out of the five vaccines in the series, and he is doing better than ever!

However, it is extremely crucial that Brady receive the entire immunotherapy if there is any hope of it working to give him a long-lasting remission. If the entire series is not carried out, it is almost guaranteed that his cancer will return with a vengeance before long. But, the last two vaccines in the series have to be given by a much more elaborate procedure that is MUCH more costly than the others. The procedure does not cause any harm to Brady and has absolutely no side effects, but comes at an enormous expense for us. Just one week of this treatment costs over $1,000!

Therefore, we need to raise more funds for the rest of this vaccine therapy ASAP, before it is too late! Our family is struggling financially, and there is absolutely no way we can afford this on our own. Raising the money is our only hope of saving him.
