MS is a progressive, neurological disease with no known cause and no known cure, striking young adults most often. Its course is unknown.

Why I Ride

Because I can! When I was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2006, I worried that I would end up in a wheelchair. Since then, I have met so many people here in the Northwest who have this uncurable, unpredictable and literally, unnerving disease. I feel so fortunate to have mostly sensory symptoms (vision problems, numbness, pain, and balance issues) and that I can still do so many of the physical things I love.

Those of us diagnosed in the past 10-15 years, have treatment options not available previously. We will hopefully never experience the level of disability older MS patients have. And hopefully, in the near future, no one will have to experience MS at all, because there will be a cure!

Why You Should Sponsor Me

I have MS. I want the future to be a future free of MS. I don't want to have to worry whether my son will develop this disease. I don't want to worry whether I'll be walking in 10 years. I want to keep doing triathlons-- I don't want to be cheering from the sidelines in a scooter! No one should be halted in their tracks due to this disease. Science is progressing at such a rapid rate, I think a cure is possible within my son's lifetime, if not my own. But it takes lots of money to keep moving progress forward and we can only do it with your help!

We formed a bike team, Moms With MS and participated in the National MS Society's Bike MS in Western Washington during the weekend of Sept. 11th-12th. Our team consisted of four moms with MS and six fabulous friends who helped us raise funds and bike for a cure! Because we can fight this disease by simply riding a bike, and because you have chosen to help thousands of people through a contribution to the Bike MS Ride, we are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, "You have MS." Thank you!!!
