Cure For Kyle is a fund dedicated to raising money to go toward a spinal surgery for Kyle Quine.

Kyle's Story

Everyone please keep in mind that although the goal for the surgery itself has been met there are many other expenses involved in this procedure.  We are still working on fundraising to make sure that this really can happen!

Kyle has had a lifelong battle with Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT). CMT Disease is the most common form of Muscular Dystrophy inherited through genes; one in every 2,500 Americans has CMT. It is slowly progressive, causing deterioration of peripheral nerves, which control sensory information and muscle function of the foot/lower leg and hand/forearm.

About a year ago, Kyle found himself being plagued by chronic fatigue and soreness. He was very active on the Mixed Martial Arts scene and could always be spotted at the gym training others or himself - if he wasn't there, he could be found on the water fueling his second love, fishing. Despite the pain, he hasn't let the spinal injury slow down his fishing, and it remains one of his favorite pasttimes!

Until recently, Kyle has not let this illness get him down, but with three torn disks in his back, he has been forced to slow down dramatically. The money that is raised will go toward the surgery needed to repair his spine so Kyle can live his life to the fullest as he always has.

Kyle got married on July 1, 2012, and his new wife Katie has done everything she can to support him on his journey through this process. Unfortunately, the newlyweds are running out of options. Their health insurance has deemed the back surgery "unnecessary", in spite of Kyle's doctor's recommendation and the statistics backing the success of the surgery.

Appeals have gotten them nowhere, and they have nowhere left to turn, so they are asking you, their friends and community members, to please help them reach their goal of $8,000 to help Kyle get his life back.
