The family & friends of Mark Adams are uniting to raise funds to help him replace the car used to get to weekly chemo treatments for Cancer.

Mark Adams is a Stage IV Metastatic Liver Cancer patient that has been fighting this disease since it was diagnosed in May 2011. The cancer has spread to multiple places, lymph nodes, colon, and left hip and pelvis.

Most of the tumors are being treated with Chemo, and radiation was used for the tumor in the left hip. but even though the tumor in the left hip has been stopped, the damage to the bone is still present and it will take time for the bone to regrow.

In the meantime he is supposed to use his left hip as little as possible to reduce the possibility of breaking it.

However, he lives about 80 miles from the UCSD treatment center that is providing all his doctors appointments, chemo, and radiation treatments. He goes out there sometimes 3 times a week, and unfortunately this trip is made in a vehicle with a manual transmission, so he is using his left hip constantly in operating the clutch, and unfortunately his primary care giver can't drive a stick, his wife Christy has knee injuries that make driving a clutch painful/difficult/ verging on impossible. And to add to the challenge there are some mechanical problems starting with the clutch that make it even more of a challenge to drive. So it has come time to replace the vehicle with a used vehicle that has an automatic transmission and is able to transport his walkers and other things he needs to maintain his mobility.

Lots of things are covered by the insurance as medically necessary, but apparently actually getting to chemo treatments or doctors is not medically necessary so the insurance is not willing to help with replacing the vehicle.

So we need assistance with raising funds to get a used vehicle and we are appealing to anybody who has ever had a loved one in such a situation.

If you can help with even $5 or $10 it would be greatly appreciated. If you are not able to help directly, perhaps you can forward this request to someone who might be in a better position.
