Friends of Rita Lowery are raising money to assist with monthly prescription costs and Insurance premiums related to Trevor's kidney disease

Many of you know Rita and are inspired by her energy and positive outlook on life. Rita’s son, Trevor suffers from Medullary cystic kidney disease. This is a condition in which cysts in the center of each kidney cause the kidneys to gradually lose their ability to work.

From the age of 6 months to 2 years, Trevor had a feeding tube in his nose to provide nourishment.  At 2 years old he was diagnosed with Medullar Cystic Kidney disease.  Each day was a challenge for his family but with Rita leading the charge, the family trudged forward.  At age 7 Trevor went into renal failure; he needed a kidney transplant.  A match was found in a brave friend of the family, 50 year old Jan Bolien, now referred to as “Aunt Jan” by a grateful Lowery family.  The kidney transplant was successful and Trevor thrived in spite of the increased medications taken into his small body. He grew in height and weight.  He played sports and excelled academically. Even though Trevor loved baseball he had to give it up at 13 when he began to experience shortness of breath.  He could not run.  At 15 Trevor developed crystals in his eyes, resulting in a new diagnosis of cyst tine kidney disease.  Then at 16, Trevor began experiencing complications from Scoliosis.  The spine was pressing on the lower right lobe of the lung causing reduced lung capacity.  Pneumonia set in and between late 2011 and 2012 Trevor was in the hospital 4 times with pneumonia.  During this time doctors discovered Trevor had some thyroid problems and was diagnosed with acute anemia. Trevor missed a tremendous amount of school, and mom Rita, a tremendous amount of work, as the medical bills continued.

His weight, at 17 years old, is 83.6 lbs.
