Jen's Fight is a fundraiser to help with her medical expenses and to raise awareness of Lupus. Please show your support. Thank you.

Jennifer has been diagnosed with Systemic Lupus after endless trips to the ER and doctors appt's. Over the past couple of years she has had ongoing infections and suffers from tremendous pain and fatigue almost all the time and just recently had to take a medical leave from job she loves. She is uninsured and struggling to pay for hospital bills and get the care she desperately needs. Her goal is to get her illness into remission, so she can enjoy doing regular everyday things with her family, granddaughters and return to work.

Lupus, is a systemic immune desease (or autoimmune connective tissue disease) Lupus is often a chronic lifelong condition with flare-ups and remission. For others, lupus is life threatening when the lungs, kidneys or heart are attacked by auto-antibodies.

Lupus can be mild or it can be extremely serious, depending on which organs it affects. Earlier this century, lupus was fatal within a few years of onset. Today almost all lupus patients live out their normal lifespan, provided they and their doctors carefully manage their symptoms.

SLE most often harms the heart, joints, skin, lungs, blood vessels, liver, kidneys, and nervous system. The course of the disease is unpredictable, with periods of illness (called flares) alternating with remissions. There is no cure.
