This is being started to help provide necessary home care for Tammy Snyder, who has ALS. She requires 24/7 care for life saving equipment.

In 2004 my mom was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease. It is a fatal, motor neuron disease that causes total paralysis, causing the person to lose all abilities of eating, talking, moving, and breathing. The worse part is the mind is still alert, so the person knows whats happening, but there's nothing they can do. I was 11 years old when mom was diagnosed. I always made it my goal to take care of her the way I knew she would take care of me if I got sick. As things progressed, I dropped out of school to take care of her. I went back and got my GED, and am pursuing a college degree now. At the time of diagnoses, she was given 2 years to live. Here we are, 8 1/2 years later and she is still here. But now, she requires more care than ever. She is completely dependent on a ventilator, feeding tube, and other life sustaining equipment. The insurance is refusing to pay for home care for her. In order to keep my promise to her, I will continue caring for her, but I will need help, especially with being a full time college student. It is estimated that it will cost 30,000 a year to just provide home care a few days per week. Can you help me? No amount is too small.
