The family and friends of Robert are joining together to raise finances for Robert during his fight against lung/ brain cancer. Thank you.

On October 2011, Robert Briggs was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung cancer with metastasis to the liver and lymph nodes. The tumor that was found in the liver was 15cm x 11cm x 9cm. At this time his life expectance was 6 months or less depending on how the cancer would react to chemotherapy. He began very strong chemotherapy consisting of cisplatin, carboplatin and avastin. Normally they would only give a person six cycles of this combination, but Robert has had seven of this combination and two of the avastin alone. The chemo seemed to be working because the tumor began to shrink. This process has been ongoing up to date. At his last scheduled chemotherapy, the doctors were not able to treat him because he had some side effects caused by the chemotherapy; he also had a headache for over two weeks. The doctors thought it to be high blood pressure because this also developed during this time. As a result, the doctors put him on high blood pressure medication, but it was to no avail as the headaches continued. On June 29, 2012 he went to the VA Emergency room, in Houston, Tx because his headaches continued to increase. After the doctors performed a ct scan, they didn’t see anything to cause concern, so they gave him a shot to see if it would ease the pain. Unfortunately it did not. Robert returned to the E.R. on Monday July 2, 2012 and sat in the waiting room for 7 hours because the physicians thought it was only a headache. When he was finally seen again there was not much the doctors could do, so this time they gave him a steroid shot and a dilaudid shot and still to no avail. The doctor admitted Robert to the E.R. and ordered an MRI for the next morning. The doctor found something on the left side of the brain forming so they had to do more tests. They admitted him to the hospital and did a spinal tap and it was confirmed that the cancer had spread to the menangis of the brain, also known as the brain sack. The diagnosis was that the cancer had spread and had left seedlings along the way. The doctors gave him a life expectancy of 4 weeks to possibly 4 months. Robert has recently started whole brain radiation in hopes of stability to recommence a strong regiment of chemotherapy. Roberts’s life expectancy will not change unless God steps in.

Rev. R.A. Briggs is the Pastor for the New Testament Christian Church in Pasadena, Tx. Mr. Briggs has been in the ministry for the two plus decades and has helped scores of people all around the world. His pastorate has included: Denver, Colorado; Vilseck-Schlickt, Germany; San Antonio, Texas; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and even Sacramento, California. Robert was born in Phoenix, Arizona and grew up in a small town just north of the city called “New River.” Robert Briggs went on to join the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1989. Mr. Briggs is also a husband to Emma and his two kids Victoria (12) and Aaron (8). His family has been with him every step of the way through this ordeal and has shown just as much strength as their father. Being a full-time pastor for a local church, the Briggs’ are dependent on the finances that are generated from the church. As anyone that has gone through a similar issue knows, circumstances such as this take a financial toll in the form of medical and general expenses, such as cost of living. The VA is covering a majority of the medical expenses, but as a result of Robert’s condition, he is not able to be on his feet and perform his ministerial/ finance generating duties. Help is needed from all who are able to give and it is much appreciated. Robert is a model citizen, respectable American and a pillar of faith in this world.
