Kelli's battle with Ovarian Cancer touched so many. Her fighting spirit, advocacy, and thirst for life were awe-inspiring. We love you!

It is with a heavy heart we share with you all Kell's passing. Kelli Richmond went to be with our Lord in Heaven Tuesday night, May 1st. She was surrounded by her family. She was able to hear their loving words and feel their arms around her. She gave one last beautiful smile as she took her last breath. Those of us who knew Kelli can remember that smile so well; it had been a long time since we had seen that smile. We know she is free from suffering now...dancing and singing among the angels.

Thank you to all of you, for your support, your words of encouragement, and you heart-felt donations. This fundraiser revealed what an impact Kelli's battle and determination has had on so many people, those she knew and those she didn't. It was a profound experience. We ask you continue to pray for Kelli's family and their healing. We ask you cherish the wonderful memories you have of our dear Kel Bel. We ask that you be an advocate for Ovarian Cancer Awareness. Advocate annual ovarian ultrasounds, so we can conquer this silent killer.

Please know that the funds raised will be used to cover remaining medical expenses, funeral costs, and in honor of Kelli's memory. The family has yet to determine how to best honor our warrior Kelli's memory, but it will certainly be in a way Kelli would have envisioned. The celebration of Kelli's life will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. Please join us as we celebrate her life, her accomplishments, her captivating spirit. God speed.

In October 2009, Kelli was diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. This thriving 27-year-old underwent a complete hysterectomy and began treatment. Kelli changed her diet, took up dance again, learned to play tennis; she relished every moment of life she possibly could. Our warrior fought with diligence and the majority of the cancer was gone a year later. We celebrated with Kelli and anxiously awaited each scan thereafter. Unfortunately, a few months later scans revealed the cancer was returning. Kelli put on her emotional suit of armor and prepared for battle again. She began treatment and frequently struggled with gastrointestinal problems. Exploratory stomach surgery in October 2011 revealed the cancer had metastisized to the lining of her abdomen and intestines. Kelli's colon, large intestines, and a portion of the small intestines were removed, resulting in ilestomy (small intestines protruding into her ostomy/"bag").

Kelli spent 4 weeks in the hospital after those two surgeries. She fought for her life and won! Kelli celebrated her 30th birthday in January 2012. Then in February 2012, a scan revealed more cancer. Doctors have deemed her cancer untreatable and terminal. However, Kelli and her family are not surrendering. She has been accepted to the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, TX. The clinic is world renowned for treating advanced cancers. She begins her treatment there March 13, 2012.

Kelli is not able to work, and we are uncertain if insurance will cover any of the costs incurred at Burzynski. Kelli is in the biggest battle of her life right now and the mounting medical bills are a worry we would like to take away from her and her parents. We can't change this disease, but we can change how she fights it! Thank you all for your donations, support and most importantly prayers. We do believe in miracles and we pray for one each day.
God Bless You,
The Family of Kelli Richmond
