Paying off Medical Bills Associated With Her Breast Cancer Treatment and Surgeries, Continuing to Build A Garden of Hope

Diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer in 2011,
Sandy has spent the last 1 1/2 years raising three small children, striving to fulfill her dream of becoming a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and building a Garden of Hope for her children and their friends to play in. It is not a 'Bucket List of Wishes' but a 'Celebration of Her Love for Her Family' that has inspired her dream to build a garden with recycled materials. Paying off some medical bills associated with her treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota has been another significant priority.

Sandy was educated as an elementary teacher; she loved teaching with all of her heart and soul but has had to set aside her dream of returning to the classroom in exchange for fighting for her life. She reserves the majority of her energy for nurturing her family.

Sandy completed three surgeries associated with the cancer diagnosis and looks forward to a life watching her children and grandchildren grow up. She will continue to take a cancer medication to improve her prognosis for recovery for the next five years.

Sandy and her children spend a lot of time in the garden; working, learning, dreaming and nurturing each other through this difficult journey of battling breast cancer.
Her love for gardening is evident in the number of beautiful flowers she has nurtured and an incredible plan to build a garden to inspire her children and their friends to 'live life living'.

She has been cancer-free for 1.5 years all the while practicing and preparing for her Black Belt testing in Tae Kwon Do scheduled in the Winter of 2013.

Building a Garden of Hope, nurturing her children to be caring and compassionate citizens, and acquiring her Black Belt are the three goals that keep her focussing on the future.

Paying off existing medical bills is also a priority. Her parents provided financial support and encouragement as she battled breast cancer and completed the necessary surgeries. While her health insurance covered 90% of her expenses, there are still medical bills to be paid, and day care costs for her children that remain unpaid.

Please join us in building 'A Garden of Hope' and in helping Sandy fulfill some of her goals and dreams.
