Mia Esmeralda is raising funds to attend an amazing therapy program in hopes of one day sitting, crawling and walking all by herself!

Mia Esmeralda will be traveling to Pontiac, Michigan in May 2012.

Mia was born in 2008 with an extremely rare genetic condition. The condition is so rare that the medical experts at Lucile Packard: Stanford Hospital in collaboration with experts worldwide, have yet to formally diagnose her with a name for her condition. At 3.5 years of age, Mia Esmeralda has not reached her developmental milestones, and is still unable to sit, crawl, or walk. Though Mia has not been diagnosed with a disorder, we have learned that Mia needs more assistance in reaching her developmental milestones.

Mia has been blessed to have been accepted to the Euro-Pëds National Center for Intensive Pediatric Physical Therapy located in Pontiac, Michigan. The Euro-Peds Clinic is a nationally-recognized, hospital-based center that specializes in Intensive Pediatric Physical Therapy for children & young adults who have a variety of syndromes & non-progressive gross motor disorders.

It is at this center that Mia, and her parents will learn and participate in vital therapy sessions that we hope will be the start of empowering Mia with the ability to sit, walk and feed herself. We are scheduled to attend a two week intensive physical therapy session in May 2012, and unfortunately her medical insurance does not cover any of the therapy costs out of state.

In attending this program, we are hoping to provide Mia with the necessary skills and support to begin reaching her milestones, and so we ask for your help.
