This fundraiser is for the Woods family to cover expenses while Kenny is in the hospital recovering from a brain aneurysm. Any funds contributed will go directly to the family and is appreciated more then words can express!

Sadly, on March 29th, Ken was admitted to Loyola Hospital with an aneurysm. Less then 24 hours later he had brain surgery to repair it. During the next few weeks he had numerous setbacks and complications from a second aneurysm and seizures, which caused Ken to have a stroke. The stroke left him paralyzed on his right side and unable to speak. Ken has a very long road to recovery before he’s hopefully once again the active and loving father of two children, Katie & Kenny, ages 11 & 8, and devoted husband to Jennifer. The length of time he will be in an assisted living and a rehab center is unknown, at this time. He’s been hospitalized for three months already and it is estimated at a minimum of three to five additional months. When he is able to go home he will likely need assisted care until it’s determined he can take care of himself and be on his own. Somewhere in between he will need another surgery to reattach a portion of his skull that the doctor’s removed during the surgery because of the trauma to his brain and the pressure from the swelling.

The medical bills are unbelievable and although they have insurance, their out of pocket expenses are skyrocketing. This illness has left Ken unable to work, and Jenny is now only working limited hours because she is spending most of her time caring for Ken and trying to spend some time with her children too who have been temporarily living with her parents.

We are organizing this fundraiser to help Ken’s family with the bills that have already piled up and will continue to do so for quite awhile. So we are asking you for tax deductible donations. Any kind of donation will be greatly appreciated, monetary donations and donations that we can use for raffles and auctions are needed the most for the fundraiser. Our goal is to raise enough money so Ken and Jenny can keep up with the medical bills until Ken recovers and hopefully can get back to work.

Ken is a wonderful husband and father, and a very caring person. Not only did he find time to help his kids with their homework, take them to their baseball and soccer practices and games, and anywhere else they needed to be, he played games with them, read with them, watched movies, played catch, went to their school functions and did all the things with his children that a dad should do. He and his family went on camping trips and to Great America and spent time with their relatives. He is a real family man and dedicated to his family. He also found time to dedicate himself as a Cub Scout Den Leader and this is the main reason the pack is so successful. He put 110% into seeing that the pack had fun, never ran out of activities, and made sure the kids learned what it meant to be a Cub Scout by preparing them not only for Boy Scouts, but for life in general and how to be a better person. He took his responsibility as den leader very serious and spent countless hours thinking of how to make the boys scouting experiences the best they could be.

If everyone had a fraction of Ken’s caring and commitment this world would surely be a better place. There isn’t a better person more deserving of our help and your help for this needed event.
