Run for Bethany Furber-a mother fighting cancer who wants to be well enough to see her son graduate in June 2012.

Bethany Furber is a mother, daughter, partner, and friend to many. She is also a cancer fighter, going through chemo for sarcoma, which is cancer of the soft tissues. Before getting the news, she was an upbeat, energetic 45-year old woman, who had just moved in with her high school sweetheart, Jon Edgerly, with whom she had recently been reunited after 25 years. But now, she finds herself unemployed, without medical insurance, and faced with thousands of dollars of medical and chemo bills.

If you went to SHS during the mid-80’s, you remember Bethany as the wild and crazy gal with a quick sense of humor who would give you an honest answer if you asked her opinion. She was a member of the class of 1984 and was actively involved in band, playing flute and baritone in marching band and saxaphone in jazz band. She would willingly go out of her way to help a person in need, which is probably why she was so successful as an LPN later in life. But now it is Bethany who is in need of help.

I will be running in the Manchester Half Marathon on November 6th in honor of my friend, Bethany, in the hopes of raising money to help pay off some of her medical bills. PLEASE consider making a donation. Her dream is to be well enough to attend her son’s graduation from Spaulding HS in June. With your help, we might be able to make this wish come true.
