Fundraising at P.S. 117 was halted last fall due to an investigation of the PTA -- the losers will be the kids if no one helps!
As a result, all fundraising like cake sales that finance student activities was legally halted once the investigation commenced. Early this year, due to the lack of funding, parents of seniors at P.S. 117 were notified that there would be no graduation, no yearbook or prom as is traditionally provided through annual PTA fundraising efforts.
The kids are all caught in the middle of something they nor the parents caused, and it's not fair. The parents rallied and contacted the media and, among others, me through the Facebook Briarwood Latchkey Generation group. They are working extremely hard and putting themselves at financial risk putting down deposits to give their kids what the PTA usually would finance.
AND THIS IS WHERE YOU, FRIENDS OF BRIARWOOD, COME IN TO BE SUPERMAN! Help the parents give the 165 kids the things their peers received when they graduated! While it says this fundraiser goes till July, MONEY NEEDS TO BE SECURED BY MAY! Support your old school! Support your old neighborhood! Support the parents! Support the kids! Thank you!
