Our beloved Saint Bernard, King, only 4 years old, had undergone 2 surgeries, countless shots, 10 different medications, 15 IVs and 4 blood transfusions in his fight over Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. Unforatunately, on July 19th, he passed away.

Meet King. Our beloved Saint Bernard who we rescued back in 2008. He was neglected and abused but we brought him into our loving home and truly treated him like a King. Back in April of 2010 he tore his ACL while playing in the backyard. After considering everything we decided to have TPLO surgery in June of 2010. The surgery was successful and we were on the road to recovery. On July 5th King ate something he shouldn’t have which caused his stomach to bloat and partially flip and went into emergency surgery exactly 2 weeks after his ACL surgery. Luckily, we got there in time and the surgery was successful. To our dismay shortly after that King’s mouth was turning white and his energy was very low. His red blood cell count was down to 13 (normal between 35-45). He was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. On Saturday July 17th he greeted me at the door with his tail wagging, a sight I was so glad to see. Unfortunately this was short lived and on Monday, July 19th, King lost his battle to IMHA.

King was the most amazing dog you would ever meet. He brought joy to our lives every day, made us laugh and smile, and provided soft and fluffy hugs. only had king 2 out of his short life of 4 years, but those were the best 2 years of my life. He was a true companion and will always be in our hearts.

In a span of 4 weeks King had undergone 2 surgeries, countless shots, 10 different medicines, 15 IVs and 4 blood transfusions and as you can imagine, the vet bill is unlike anything we have ever seen. It was worth all of the effort on our part and from our amazing vet, who desperately wanted him to survive but now we need your help for our family to move forward. Please consider making a donation in honor of King, who touched so many people’s lives.

Thank you in advance for your donation, you are a true angel to our family.

In loving memory of King Pipitone
