The family and friends of Gina Newsome are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against stage IV colorectal cancer with mets

On Feb 2011 I went in for a gallbladder ultrasound and came out with a diagnosis of cancer. I never had a sign or symptom and never was sick. Over the next week I underwent a series of testing and ultimately was given the diagnosis of stage IV colorectal cancer with liver and lung mets. I was started on chemotherapy the second week of March. I continued on chemo until six weeks before October 5th when I underwent surgery to remove two feet of my colon and was given an ileostomy. Unfortunately the bag would not stick to my skin so it would leak onto my stomach and literally burn my skin. On October 31st the ileostomy was reversed. A PET scan a month later showed too numerous to count liver and lung mets. I was placed back on chemo and have been receiving it twice a month since that time. My oncologist says I will be on chemo the rest of my life or until chemo does not become an option anymore.

Not long after my diagnosis I lost my job. My husband’s job had a massive lay off and we lost our insurance. He has not been able to find employment due to his numerous health problems. We have been denied disability (we are currently appealing). We have been living off of our savings, but that is running out and we are about to be put on the street.

On my husband’s birthday July 5th he was rushed to the ER for pneumonia; two days later he was placed on life support for 2.5 months after the hospital he was moved to a nursing home (nasty) to learn to walk and take care of himself. After two weeks there with the so called professionals; my daughter and I got there and he could barely breathe. I got them call an ambulance to get him to the ER, They got a liter of fluid  from his lungs. Luckily he is in the care of the hospital but we do not now for how long.

My daughter broke her neck when she was eight and has undergone   17 surgeries and is to undergo a hip replacement as soon as we can have it. arranged. She has the best personality and can draw the most amazing pictures

We have been struggling for a long time. My cancer, my husband’s illness and my daughter’s hip have put a financial burden on us that I can’t see the other side. We are in desperate need of help. If you can find it in your hearts we would be forever grateful. May God Bless You and Keep You Safe.
