The family and friends of Silvio Dante Ferrari are uniting to raise money to help with his battle against cancer. Please show your support!

Hello everyone! We set this fund raiser up to help Silvio, our 3 year old Pit Bull, beat bone cancer (osteosarcoma). Silvio has been a member of our family since he was 7 weeks old, and he is loved very dearly! He has an amazing personality and a kind soul. He loves everyone he meets, and everyone that meets him loves him right back! Silvio's best friend is a 5 year old female kitty named Nixxi! Here is Silvio's story thus far:

March 15, 2011 - A lump was noticed in Silvio's shoulder.
We were informed by his doctor that this was probably a cancerous tumor. We were devastated for Silvio.

March 17, 2011 - A biopsy was done on the mass and it was confirmed that Silvio's mass was an active sarcoma. It was cancer.

March 25, 2011 - Silvio had a surgery/amputation of his front left leg to remove the mass. What we thought was an egg-sized mass actually turned out to be a billiard ball sized mass. Dr. Berg explained to us that the mass was lifting and separating Silvio's shoulder as he moved and that the amputation was the only way to remove the mass and ease his pain.

Silvio had his surgery at:
Animal Care Center
7 Enterprise Drive
Danville, PA 17821
(570) 275-6064
Dr. Ken Berg (Silvio's regular vet and surgeon)

April 8, 2011 - Silvio was re-examined and had his staples removed. Dr. Berg recommended chemo, and that we get Silvio started with his chemo treatments as soon as possible. We set an appointment up with Dr. Jeglum at the Veterinary Oncology Services and Research Center for April 18, 2011!

Silvio needs 2 different medicines (Adriamycin and Cisplatin), they will alternate each treatment and he'll have 6 treatments total, about 3 weeks apart. He'll also have to have blood work (CBC tests) done 7-10 days after each treatment to make sure his white blood cell count is normal. Silvio has already had 1 Adriamycin treatments. Dr. Jeglum will be administering the Cisplatin treatments and Dr. Berg will be administering the remaining Adriamycin treatments, along with the required CBC tests in between each treatment.

April 18, 2011 - Silvio had his very 1st chemo treatment. Silvio handled this treatment very well with no sickness and very little fatigue!

May 3, 2011 - Silvio celebrated his 3rd birthday!!!

We're doing everything in our power to give Silvio the happiest and healthiest life that he could possibly have! He really means the world to us and to the rest of our family. Silvio is considered our child, a nephew, cousin and Granddog to other family members. Please help us to help him fight and beat his cancer!

I will be posting updates with all news that we receive and after every appointment Silvio has! Please be sure to check back for updates! If you could find it in your heart to donate, we'd be forever grateful. If you are not in the position to donate, please share his story/link and help us spread the word for this little boy! We appreciate any help you could provide!
