Putting students on a level educational field can mean meeting tangible needs such as a laptop- help Greenhouse Scholars help Kyle.

Kyle is a first-year student at Stanford University studying aeronautical engineering. While he needed no help getting admitted to this elite university with his stellar academic, leadership, and athletic achievements, he needs financial support in order to attend and succeed.

This High School Heisman Committee National Male Winner in 2009 and valedictorian of Wiggins Jr-Sr High School is a Greenhouse Scholar. Greenhouse Scholars provides comprehensive personal and financial support to high-performing, under-resourced college students. Kyle exemplifies the values of a Greenhouse Scholar by also serving his community through numerous service organizations and being a role model for his siblings, teammates, and peers.

While Kyle is receiving assistance with tuition expenses, he needs help to buy a laptop. The majority of engineering and other students at Stanford own laptops, which enable them to keep pace in the classroom, easily collaborate on projects with their peers during group work sessions, communicate at any time with faculty and peers, and to always access their work.

Your support will enable Greenhouse Scholars to purchase a laptop computer for Kyle which he cannot afford with his limited financial resources.

The majority of our funds currently go towards tuition assistance. While this support is invaluable, putting students on a level educational field often means helping them meet other tangible needs such as purchasing a laptop.

78% of our scholars are first-generation college students and have an average family income of just $28,705.

Greenhouse Scholars uses a Whole Person approach to offer intellectual, academic, personal, professional and financial support to high-achieving, under-resourced college students. Support includes one-on-one mentorship, access to a vast professional network, assistance in securing internships, an annual three-day leadership training symposium, and peer support, in addition to financial grants. While the average GPA of first-generation college students is a 2.6 (with a 2.8 for all students), Greenhouse Scholars average a 3.4 GPA.

Our network of support services means the day our Greenhouse Scholars leave college, they’ll be prepared to succeed in their professional endeavors and make significant contributions in their communities.
