Jessie was first diagnosed with colon cancer in October 2010. His colon resection surgery (to remove the tumor) was performed two months after. Jessie is married to LeiLani Paraz Minor and currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with their five sons: Alex, Derrick, Andrew, Marc and Michael Minor. The eldest step-son, Earl Adona, currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his family.

In April 2011, he had gone in for a follow-up exam and was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in the liver. He began his chemotherapy the following month where his doctors tried three different types of cancer drugs. The cancer continued to progress and spread through the liver despite all his treatments. As he continued to endure the physical pain associated with chemo therapy, he continued working to support his family. His last day at work was in September 2011, when he was no longer physically able to perform his duties. Since then, LeiLani continued to support the family by working two jobs until December, when she had to leave one job to care for Jessie and support the family obligations at home.

In May of 2012, Jessie’s bilirubin counts (substance produced when the liver breaks down old red blood cells) were elevated, so they placed a stent (a small mesh tube that's used to treat narrow or weak arteries) into the bile duct to help pass the "bad" blood from the liver out of the body. The stent procedure was a success, but the tumors in the liver increased in size and the toxins in his body started to elevate. Jessie was not able to continue his chemo treatment and is currently in hospice care at home with LeiLani remaining by his bedside 24/7.

Jessie still continues to support his family in his condition. His first thought upon waking up every day is making sure his family at home is cared for. The emotional support needed is difficult to come by as most of their relatives are located in California, but a few relatives have traveled to Vegas to provide support in every possible way. Each day is a fierce battle for everyone and a test of unity for the Minor family.

Jessie's Operating Engineers Insurance (Union) ends in July, 2012. As you can imagine, this unexpected crisis continues to leave a heavy burden on LeiLani and her children both emotionally and financially.

The family believes in miracles and will continue to be by his side to fight this disease. Thank you for all of your donations, support and most importantly…your prayers.
God Bless.
