Gerrye Breaux Recovery Fund

Victor Breaux was very proud  the day he became certified as a paint inspector in the oil field. He worked many hours a week and he worked very hard for many years to support his family. He became very ill about 10 years ago with a liver disease. Despite the insufferable treatments, he continued to work to provide for his family. He worked even when he was very weak. Unfortunately, the treatments didn't work and his liver disease worsened to needing a liver transplant and he is now on disability.

When he became eligible for a new liver once his disability came in, he learned that the rules have changed and he must receive disability for two years before he can receive medical benefits, thus resulting in his being taken off of the liver transplant program. At present he is not eligible for the medical benefits. Now he is no longer eligible for a liver transplant for another two years.

His wife, Gerrye, has been taking care of him but on January 17, 2010 Gerrye suffered a terrible fall. While walking to the kitchen she slipped near the fireplace and she fell. When she fell, the poker for the fireplace went through her left eye, tearing half the iris off and puncturing her eyeball. The doctor was able to save her eye, but she will have many problems with it and she will need more surgery.

So now she is not able to help her husband due to the fall and together they struggle make ends meet. They are very caring and loving people who once worked very hard and helped countless people who were struggling. Anyone who knows Gerry and Victor Breaux knows how much they care about everyone they meet.

Their only income right now is their disability. If you can spare a few dollars to help them get through the toughest year of their lives, they would be eternally grateful.

No amount is too small or too large.

Thank you for any amount that you can chip in. They will certainly appreciate it.
