Funds will be used for Neuro-Psych testing & the VNS surgery May 24th. We thank you for any support that you may be able to give .

We have a 16 year old son Billy Hall that was born with Asthma, Asperger's, Mild CP, Bipolar, ADHD, Epilepsy (that has worsened) , CAPD and Myocitis/ Costochondritis plus Food Dye Allergies .

He attends Easter Seals Therapeutic Day School for Autistic kids in Tinley park, IL. He does participate in activities at church at times .

Billy is a big fan of Country Music. His favorite groups & performers are Diamond Rio,Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts + others. He also likes Classic Rock and other genres.

We have just recently found out that he is in need of a VNS device (Vagus nerve stimulation) to help attempt to control his seizures since Medications are not working He is at the Maximum dosage on 2 medications-over 200 mg on each per day which for these meds is alot. We see the Surgeon on May 2nd, 2012.

The VNS device is sometimes referred to as a "pacemaker for the brain." It is placed under the skin on the chest wall and a wire runs from it to the vagus nerve in the neck. The vagus nerve is part of the autonomic nervous system, which controls functions of the body that are not under voluntary control, such as the heart rate. The vagus nerve passes through the neck as it travels between the chest and abdomen and the lower part of the brain

He is also in need of Neuro-Psycholoigical Testing and other testing to see if he has progressed or if he seizures have worsened his mental state. . He currently has the mentality of a 7-9 year old based on last testing done in 2007. This testing would test his Cognitive, Executive and other mental functions

As of May 2nd, 2012 are Neurologist was able to tell just by speaking to Billy ..that the seizures have definitely affected his functioning in quite a few ways-especially executive and cognitive. We also are seeing that at home on a daily basis. things that he was able to remember prior regularly- he now is unable to recall. As one can imagine...this affects him greatly emotionally as Asperger's children like to have everything organized " in their world" .

Our insurance will not pay for the testing-I confirmed this with them and even went to the top people. It doesn't matter if it is medically necessary or not. Surgery part is also iffy.

We are trying to raise funds for the surgery and the testings The surgery and Neuro-Psychological testing are the top priority . Surgery was completed on May 24th and was successful.

Please help if you can even if it is just $5.00.

Thank you so much ! God Bless you !
