Mostly this call for help is impart too his impact of being unemployed for over the past 14 months due to his bout with Cancer. More pressure has come to the family recently, his wife is having to take a leave of abscence from her job. Taking FMLA to take care of of her husband 24 hours around the clock while he's recovering from the Stem-Cell Transplant he succesfully recieved at Loyola Unviversity Medical Center this past August 21, 2012. What a Difference a Gift MakesBone Marrow and Stem-Cells.  Stem-Cells Donors Are The Cure  We are looking for donations that no gift is to small or to great. For each $100 dollars we know we can save a life through our working with NMDP and the life saving team at Loyola Transplant Program.    Our family is committed to making a difference in getting donor drives started and the message out to as many communities as possible.   The stakes are high and many are in need of life saving donors and that is a story that brings "Be the Match" to even more importance and why this campaign must meet it's successful goals. Each year more than 10,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a life-threatening disease of the blood or bone marrow, and as many as 70 percent—whose best chance of survival is getting a stem-cell transplant—do not have a matching donor in their family.   The NMDP, which has more than 9 million potential donors in its “Be the Match” registry, recently completed its 50,000th transplant, and the goal is to have as many as 10,000 transplants per year—up from the 5,500 it facilitated in 2011. Its need, however, is two-fold: First, the registry needs more overall donors; and second, it needs a more diverse group, with more minority donors.   This is a call to everyone visiting this campaign to learn and save a life. Patients from racially and ethnically diverse communities face a greater challenge in finding a donor. NMDP recruitment centers work closely with communities to raise awareness about the need for a more diverse registry to help more patients. This is why we got involved to these levels of raising funds and awareness.   Remember, all donations add up; so if you send them in by check,(Perry H. Gornick Revocable Trust) or by clicking on the "GIVE NOW" you will make a difference for sure in saving a life today!
