This fund is to help Lynn Bowden in her fight against Ovarian Cancer. Please show your support! contact me at

In December 2010 my mother, Lynn was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Often called the silent killer, this type of cancer is known for having minimal symptoms until the cancer has grown to a very dangerous size and is often very difficult to treat. Such was the case with my mother. By the time she was diagnosed, my mother had a tumor the size of a small grapefruit that was obstructing her ability to digest food.
My mother underwent extensive surgery including a full historectemy and spent Christmas in the hospital. While the surgery was very helpful in removing the cancer, she is still doing a full round of chemotherapy to get the microscopic cancer cells still existing in her abdomen.
I am starting this fund to help my mom. All my life my mother has given me everything I could ever want or need without asking for anything in return. I can never repay her for all the love she has shown me through the years, but I hope that this fund can help her in a way that I can't. My mother, like many Americans, has no health insurance. Because of pre-existing conditions and the fact that she used to be a smoker, the companies have denied her everything, but catastrophic insurance, which is very minimal. It was difficult to get the surgeon to trust us enough to do the surgery, but in the end she was satisfied with a 'down-payment' on the surgery. There are thousands of bills from the surgery and the chemo that my mom has to pay out of pocket.
I hate to ask people for money, but I feel so strongly that this is the right thing to do. Nobody deserves cancer. The physical and emotional pain that my mother has gone through is awful, and I know there's still more to come. I cannot take her pain away. But if there is something I can do to alleviate some of her worry, I will do whatever I can to make her life easier. I owe her everything.
If you find it in your heart to contribute any amount to help her fund I would appreciate it so much. No amount is too small. Thank you so much.

* Update * As of 7/22/2011

Great News! Chemotherapy worked! My mother's cancer is basically gone thanks to amazing medical advancements. I'm so glad she is healthy and almost back to her old self.
While this news is incredibly uplifting, there is still a looming aspect of the situation - Debt. My mother was billed by the hospital a total of $125,000 for her surgery and stay. This does not include her chemotherapy. Luckily they have given her a break since she is uninsured and now the total bill is $69,000.
Any amount you can give to help her would be amazing. This is a huge amount of debt for any person and I certainly don't want my mom to be worried about paying bills the rest of her life. Please help - no amount is too small.
