The Matthew Highers fund has been set up to help the family with travel and expenses that insurance does not cover for his intestine surgery

Matthew Highers is a 12 year old boy that is not only deaf, but was born with Hirschsprungs disease and had an intestinal transplant, with only a 60% survival rate, at the age of 4. He also has chronic lung disease, he is tube fed and has an ostomy bag. He has no immune system so he has to be protected from virus and diseases constantly.
Now the doctors are telling his family that he has to have another surgery to repair the attachment of his transplanted organ due to an intestinal bleed he acquired. This requires them to travel from Tennessee to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital and they will be there for a month. This trip/surgery is trying on the family's finances. Mike, Matthew's dad, has 3 other boys and only survives on his military disability and Matthews disability as caring for Matthew is a full time job.
Please help this family get through this trying time. Matthew is a blessing to us all, he never meets a stranger, and he is a doctor's dream.
Matthew's family thanks you!
God Bless!!

There is a benefit fund set up for him at Wilson Bank & Trust in Lebanon, TN.
