This is a mission to help my friend Aimee begin her battle against breast cancer. She is 31 and was diagnosed three weeks ago.

Dear Family and Friends,

My friend, Aimee received news about 3 weeks ago that has changed her life completely. She has been diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Mammary Carcinoma. It's been such a difficult time for Aimee and her loved ones to come to terms with her illness, but she is preparing for a hard fight against her cancer.

She is still undergoing further diagnostic tests to determine exactly what type of surgery she will need. She may need a lumpectomy with multiple radiation treatments or she may need a bilateral mastectomy. One thing is definite though...she will start chemotherapy on December 6th. She has also been told that by the 17th day that she will have lost all of her hair due to the effects of the chemotherapy drugs.

Aimee has come to accept the fact that she has a long and hard battle ahead of her. She already realizes how emotionally taxing this is going to be. She knows that there may be days that she may not be able to get out of bed due to the extreme fatigue and nausea from the chemotherapy. But the one thing that is understandably difficult to come to terms with is the prospect of watching all of her hair fall out. She has expressed how seeing herself lose more and more of her hair each day will be a consistent reminder of her illness.

Through some very candid talks we've had, Aimee has made the decision to completely shave her hair. She has also expressed that she has the option of saving her own hair for a wig to be made specifically for her, all within hours of shaving her hair. I think this wig is something that would allow her to have some degree of normalcy as she continues to fight this disease each day.

If you know Aimee, she is one strong woman! She is an incredible friend, wife, and mother. Her strength, loving nature and insight have always inspired me. She is always the first to sacrifice her own comfort for the sake of her family and friends. I can't count how many times Aimee has been by my side and the words "I would do anything for you" have given me immense comfort, and I know she has meant it each and every time. Now, this is my chance to do something for her. I know I HAVE to do something.

Despite this strength and the spirit to win this battle, she still needs help. Aimee will have to dramatically reduce how much of her time she is able to devote to work, as she will be either in treatment or recovering from the surgeries and treatments. Even with her husband Jeremy's support (who's going to work even harder than he does now), along with the financial burden of the medical expenses, she still does not have the resources to pay for this wig.

Here's how you can help. All I'm asking is for you to donate whatever amount is comfortable for you as no amount is too small. Please help alleviate the financial burden for Aimee and allow her to have the one thing she can control through this process. I'd like for this to be one thing she doesn't have to worry about so she can focus on getting better and maintaining a positive self image.
