Please help raise money for Haylie’s family to purchase a vehicle to accommodate Haylie’s needs and to make their home handicap accessible

Haylie Nicole Martin is an 8th grade student at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School in Dayton, TX. She is a beautiful and loving 15 year old girl, whom has many friends and family that can’t imagine life without her. Haylie loves animals and taking care of children. On more than one occasion Haylie has rescued puppies, birds, and even squirrels. She has a very nurturing heart and because of it small children love hanging out with her. Haylie has been battling Bi-Polar and depression for the past several years of her life. Despite her problems, Haylie has a good heart and is always willing to help someone else.

On May 6, 2012, Haylie suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a gunshot wound to the head. A small caliber bullet entered through the right side of the frontal lobe of her brain and traveled to the left side where it attempted to exit. The doctors did not expect her to survive past Tuesday, May 8, 2012; however, early Tuesday evening Haylie began displaying miraculous signs of improvement. On May 9, 2012 Haylie underwent major brain surgery to remove the bullet and clean up the wound. After surgery, the surgeon said “Haylie has already, beat the odds.” Since then, Haylie has undergone multiple surgeries as a result of the traumatic brain injury and extensive rehab. Haylie still has at least one more surgery. She is scheduled to be discharged from TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Center on October 4, 2012 to return home for the first time since May 6.
