Kevins family is trying to help raise funds for living expenses and medical bills so he can stay focused on beating cancer.

I asked My Brother in law for some information about his cancer and what he's been going through so I could write this description. He sent me a letter that says it all. So I will just let it speak for itself.
Hi, my name is Kevin Myhaver and I should be dead or in prison, thankfully God had a better plan for me and now I am a nationally certified Sign Language Interpreter living in Oklahoma City with my amazing wife Carla and our two faithful wonder dogs Shiloh and Max. It would take a book to tell you about the incredible testimony that God has given me and what I am about to share with you will only add to that testimony. Recently, I was diagnosed with stage 4 head and neck cancer, specifically squamous cell carcinoma of the left tonsil with spreading to the lymph nodes on both sides of my neck. The Medical-Oncologist chose the most aggressive TX plan available. She told Carla and me that she was very selective about who received this course of treatment and was confident that because of my relative young age (55) and my good health my body could take it. I had a port put in and a feeding tube inserted in preparation for the upcoming TX (treatment) I was confident I could work through it despite the fact that my four foot nothing Oncologist said she would be impressed if I worked through three weeks. I didn’t impress her. We have about a 70 percent cure rate and have the utmost confidence in our entire medical team as well as a strong faith in the mercy and grace of the living God. I have worked for 43 years and never asked for any help. Three weeks ago I had four very good part time jobs and one vending machine. Three of the jobs were working in the field I love and was called by God to do. Interpreting for Deaf and Deaf blind people from every walk of life. The fourth job was driving a school bus full of laughing, crying, know it- all teenagers and loving every minute of it. I also teach beginning sign language classes one semester a year in the evenings. That all changed on August 13, 2012 with my first cycle of chemo. I was hooked to a pump for 5 days that continually infused chemo through my body. By day three I was too sick to work and couldn’t eat or drink. By day 5 when the first cycle ended and the pump came off I was becoming sicker and sicker with one ambulance ride and three other trips to the chemo ward for hydration and care. I have two more chemo cycles and then 35 days of radiation and chemo to run concurrently left. I Figured out that beating the cancer is the easy part, surviving the treatment is the real challenge and unfortunately I have not been able to work and won’t be able to until hopefully February of 2013. Despite the fact that I had 56 sick days built up in the public school system I couldn’t use them because this year I am a part time employee and am not eligible to use my sick time. My other jobs are part time and have no benefits. And I am not eligible for any government assistance like SSI or SSD even though I have paid in for 43 years and consequently my income went from 3,400 dollars a month to 0 and my wife does not make anywhere close enough to pay our bills as well as mounting out of pocket medical expenses. I have been very humbled by my own weakness and inability to all of a sudden not be able to provide for my family. Carla and I have worked hard to pay for our home and meet all of our financial responsibilities as well as raise kids. For my wife and our future it is with a great weakness and a humble heart that I share this story with you and ask for any help that may be put on your heart to offer including prayer for the strength and courage to be a good witness. My promise to you is that when I recover I will gladly and joyfully continue to “pay-it-forward.” May God bless you and yours as much as He has me and my family!

In Christ, Kevin

Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
