Family & friends of Lillie Wersig are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against Lung & Bone Cancer. Please show your support!

Our mother, Lillie Wersig, was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung and Bone Cancer. It was official with Lung Cancer on October 3, 2011. It wasn't until a week or so later, after many testings at MD Anderson that we were told the Cancer spread to her hip bone. This is our journey...We knew about the mass in her lung about 6 months ago when she was in the hospital for a surgery to fix some hernia's. She suffered from Diverticulitis and had surgery for that over a year ago, but suffered from the hernia's months later after that surgery. We thought the worse was behind us until the Dr. didn't like the way she was coughing and ordered a chest x-ray. That's when the mass was found. A bronchoscopy and biopsy was done and the results came back negative. We were so relieved! They told us she would need to be rechecked in 6 months to watch the mass and see if it had grown. Well, unfortunately it did. They did a second bronchoscopy and this time the biopsy was positive. In a blink of an eye, they had her scheduled at MD Anderson and this is where we are today. Our Mom is the most wonderful woman in the world. I know everyone can say that about a Mom, but she is. I'm so honored to have a Mom like her. She is the most thoughtful, giving, spiritual person I know. That's why it is so hard to accept something like this, why her? But, as a family, we're not asking why anymore. Now, we are asking what to do next. Our Dad is a retired Nabisco Supervisor and Our Mom was a full time Inventory Coordinator at a local grocery store. She is now part time because the chemo treatments are starting to take a toll on her body and she can't put in the hours like she used to. Our parents live about 2 hours away from Houston, so it's a constant back and forth driving on the days she has treatments and long stays at the hotel when she has to be there for multiple appointments. I know that anyone that has something unexpected happen in their life, they are not prepared for the financial burden that takes place. We hope that some of the medical bills will be covered by her insurance, but that is not always the case. With the gas and hotel bills adding up it has become more than they can handle. No one can prepare for something unexpected like this. I know this is just the beginning and that we have a long road ahead of us. I just hope that the money we raise can at least put some comfort and less stress for our Mom and Dad.

All your generous contributions, thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated!!

Thank you all So much!! - Butch & Lillie, Dishman Family and LaLonde Family
