Help us teach the principles of manhood to young men, to build character development, Competency, & boost academic performance. Thanks!

Program Overview:

Our mission is to teach and manifest the principles of manhood to young men, to build character development, competency, boosts academic performance and broadens horizons within the urban communities.

The Vision of the One More Educated Black Man Mentoring Program is to ensure a society in which all men regardless of age and race can share, coach and manifest the qualities of manhood through integrity, generosity, loyalty, and honesty.

What we do:

Mentors are linked with mentees based on mentees career goal and Mentor’s area of expertise, as well as their common hobbies/personal interests. Mentors and Mentees develop their own schedule of educational, social and recreational activities, based on their mutual schedules, and participate in The OMEBM events during the school year that nurture a mentoring relationship. We invest in your child’s future. We are here to impact a child’s life and put them on the right track.

“Urban children need to know that someone cares about whether they stay in school, off drugs, and out of jail. Children cannot raise themselves. They need caring individuals to help them when no one else will.”

Goals & Objectives:

• Prepare youth for a bright future

• Lift young men towards setting their career goals and ambition, while taking steps to realize them

• Help young men strive for success and instill in them the confidence to achieve their full potential

• To guide young men in education, employment, and community involvement • To build trust, provide advice and inspiration

• To foster leadership skills, and put them on the path to success in school and beyond

• To pair children up with positive role models

• To provide monthly and/or quarterly workshops

• Mentors will teach their mentees how to relate well to all kinds of people and help them strengthen their communication skills

Why “OMEBM” Mentoring Program:

• You can save a precious life by investing in your child’s future

• By mentoring, we can help direct the course of his life

• You can impact a child’s life and put them on the right track

• Urban children need to know that someone cares about whether they stay in school, off drugs, and out of jail.

• Young people need the influence of caring adults and positive role models in their lives.

• Children cannot raise themselves. They need caring individuals to help them when no one else will.

The benefits of mentoring go both ways. Adult mentors often report that their mentoring experiences improved their lives in tangible ways. Not only do they feel better about themselves for playing a positive role in a child’s life, but they also find that mentoring teaches those more about themselves. Mentoring increases their sense of responsibility and accomplishment, and lays the foundation for better morale at work and better relationships with family, friends and coworkers. In fact, in a national survey of adults who mentored young people, 83 percent said they learned or gained something personally from their mentoring experience. They reported feeling that they had become a better person, developed more patience, developed new friendships, felt more effective and acquired new skills.

Thanks to donors like you, the OMEBM Mentoring Program will run a highly effective mentoring program in middles schools starting January 2013 for the entire school year. Your donation will be used to provide monthly and/or quarterly workshops, to help guide young men in education, fundraising events, employment, and community involvement, to pair children up with positive role models, and to provide apparel for the mentees and mentors.
