Ella is a Charlotte "Queen City" Cavalier battling Syringomyelia. Ella would like to get the Charlotte Cavalier Group to raise money to donate to ACKCSC Charitable Trust for reseach towards this terrible condition.

Ella is more than a dog, she is my family.  When I learned that Ella had a severe case of Syringomyelia my world changed.  I have been trying to figure out what I can do to somehow help another person not go through what I am.  Living in Charlotte NC, I knew that the ACKCSC Charitable Trust had donated to a research project at NC State several years ago.   I could go into all the details of what Syringomyelia is and how it is a concern for Cavalier owners.  I could talk about how they are still early in the study stagies and they are finding out more things that need to be researched everyday, but all that really matters is Ella.

Syringomyelia is so terrible because Ella will be up all night in pain.  Her eyes look tired but she uses all of her energy to try to make me happy.  I remember the first time I knew something was wrong was when she just stared at the ball she used to play with for hours.  How painful would it be to look at something and know it hurts too much to be able to play.  There is no cure for Syringomyelia (SM) and the severity and progression is different in each dog.

I want to help others because I can't remember the last time I went a full day with out tearing up.  It breaks my heart and words can not describe the heaviness I have in my chest.

I have so much debt and I don't know how I will be able to continue to get her treatment but I will have to do that myself.  I started this page for our group so that there is a place for people to go if they want to help and do not know how.  The beneficiary of this fundraiser is the ackcsc charitable trust which donations are tax deductible.  You can visit there website at www.ackcsccharitabletrust.org.  There is a donation form online but I put the address in the beneficiary information.
