Friends of The Amazing Maasai Ultra are invited to contribute to the Maasai Scholarship Fund to help give an African girl better choices.

Jane needs and education. The eldest child, she lives with her mother and three siblings in a cow-dung hut in Kenya. Her father died when she was young and there is no income for the family. The only income source they have is to occasionally sell a goat or sheep, or to make charcoal out of burned tree-stumps which they can then sell at the market.

Since Jane's mother can not afford to send her children to school, they stay at home and tend to the animals. Without an education, Jane will most likely be married at 15 because her mother can not afford to feed her. She will bare and raise children for the rest of her life. Her husband will have authority over her. She will spent her days cooking, cleaning, gathering water and firewood, tending to the children and in-laws, minding the animals.

With an education, Jane has a different life. She will live at boarding school until she graduates, so automatically has a few more years before marriage. Upon graduation, she could get a job, which will earn her income which she can then invest in her family. She will have a stronger voice in who is marries, how many children she has, and how she lives.

To attend high school/ secondary school in Kenya, it costs $400 per year, including room and board. Over four years, the freedom education buys Jane will cost $1200.

Please help sponsor an education for Jane. She is just one Maasai girl living in rural Kenya who needs your help. Change starts small and will grow.
