Please help relieve the financial burden of Ben medical expenses so Ben and Kristi can focus on getting him healthy and home. Thank you!

After being home for two weeks after an over 5 week long stay in the hospital suffering from a mesenteric thrombi (a blood clot in his intestines, which is extremely rare for a 28 year old) Ben has been re-admitted to Hospital San Javier in Guadalara, Mexico, on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. He has been currently diagnosed with having ischemia, tissue that isn't receiving enough blood flow, due to the thrombi.

For those of you new to this page let us start from the beginning: Ben is a medical student at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara (in Guadalajara, Mexico) and has been there for the last two years. On May 28th, 2012 after complaining about continuous stomach pain, Ben's doctors discovered a thrombi (blood clot) in his superior mesenteric vein and his portal vein (major veins in the intestines); the blood clot constricted blood to flow into the intestines, causing severe pain. He was in ICU for more than two weeks (after one week in a regular room) and then in a regular hospital room for another two weeks before being released. He was in two hospitals during this period, Hospital San Javier: www.sanjavier.com.mx and County 2000: www.hospitalcountry2000.com. His team of doctors has provided exceptional care during this severe case.

However, hospitals in Mexico function very differently from hospitals in the United States, normally requiring 100% payment before the patient leaves the hospital. We have reached the maximum amount of money insurance will cover during our first stay at San Javier. The hospitals are expecting payment in full. The second stay at San Javier will most likely not be covered by insurance. The donations will be used for medical expenses only.

We are so grateful for any assistance you are able give, whether financially or prayers. We look forward to a day when we can "pay it forward."

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to focus on Ben so we can get him healthy and home for good!
