Family and friends of Kristie Klagges are uniting to raise money to help with her battle to receive a new heart. Please show your support!

Since Kristie was 8 days old she has been fighting for her life with a rare congenital heart disease called Shone's Complex. 32 years and four heart surgeries later, she is now beginning the fight all over again.

Kristie's disease is the only progressive childhood disorder of this kind and so in the past two years she has developed Restrictive Cardiomyopathy, had open heart surgery (which did not fix the problem) and developed Constrictive Lung Disease on top of the pulmonary hypertension and is now in need of a heart transplant. The doctors say that her heart is just too small to sustain an adult body. Kristie had to stop working in May of 2012 and apply for disability. There are days when just putting a shirt on exhausts her body.

Because she has to have insurance, she has had to Cobra her insurance at $513.00 a month. The way our system is set up is that once you are on disability you cannot receive Medicare for 2 years and so she has to pay $513.00 a month until May of 2014 before she can receive Medicare. She also has to have a total of $10,000 in an escrow account before she is allowed to be listed for a heart. That money covers the first 6 months of anti rejection and life saving medications following the procedure.

Kristie was denied for disability on October 4, 2012. She has filed an appeal but this could take anywhere from 30-160 days to go through. And it's not garaunteed to be approved. As you can imagine, the financial, emotional, and physical burdens are taking a toll on Kristie and her family. Any funds donated will go to paying for her COBRA payment, travel expenses to Vanderbilt University in Nashville,TN, additional expenses of medications and follow up visits, and most importantly to her escrow account for her future heart transplant.
Team Klagges is hoping to relieve some of this burden so that Kristie can get her heart and get back into the world to help others again one day.

From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you so much for your support and prayers!
