Please help support Justine's Journey

Justine’s Journey was established on October 21, 2011 to benefit Justine Troester, a 14 year old girl who is a Sophomore at Northwest High School. Let me share her story with you. Justine has been diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor which is a rare, kidney cancer that primarily affects children. It’s most often diagnosed in children between ages 3 to 4 and becomes much less common after the age of 5. Justine completed chemotherapy and radiation treatments five days a week as an outpatient at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN. Justine had scans done during the last week of June. Her family went to the doctors on July 2nd to get the results of the scans. Justine still has a small tumor in one of her lungs (a lot smaller than what it was in the beginning.) The doctors also found 2 new tumors, one on her spine (lower than the last one) and one in or on her liver. Justine is anxiously awaiting treatment plans after the completion of a biopsy. Justine's doctor is saying 8 months of chemo, but will know more once they get the results of the biopsy back. Justine took the news hard, which is to be expected. PLEASE PRAY! Justine’s Journey has one goal, to raise funds to help alleviate the burden of medical bills and personal expenses for Justine’s family. Today, you can make an immediate difference in Justine’s Journey. Your monetary donation of any amount will help provide for the care of this family. Most importantly Justine’s Journey is coveting your prayers. Please pray for Justine and her family as they start this journey. You can follow us on facebook at www.facebook.com/justinesjourney to get updates on Justine, specific prayer requests and fundraising information. Thank you in advance for your generous support of Justine’s Journey.

Most Recent Update...Justine did not respond to the experimental chemo drug that she started a few weeks ago. Scans showed that her tumors did not shrink, some of them grew and a new one was found on one of her lungs...SO WHAT'S NEXT? Justine and her mother will be going to Washington DC to start another experimental chemo drug program at the hospital there. We wi

ll find out the exact time
frame within the week. This will be a 3 week cycle program similar to the one that she just finished. At this time we are unsure if her stay in DC will be 3 weeks or longer. It will all depend on how Justine responds to this new drug.

The cost of this experimental program and the lodging will be covered for this family but plane tickets to DC and living & travel expenses will not. Justine will still get to go back to school starting tomorrow until she leaves for DC (she is so excited!) Please continue to pray for Justine.
