We are raising money to help our beloved 2-year-old kitty melodie to survive with the only kidney left not fully functional.

Melodie joined us two years ago and she has always been healthy and energetic. She is so young that we have not been thinking of buying a pet insurance until suddenly she got extremely sick within two days: high fever, kidney enlargement, obstructed ureter. One of the kidney was so severely infected that we had to get it removed by surgery. The one left is not fully working either. At this point, the pre-existing condition makes us very difficult to buy a pet insurance any more, and we had spent several thousands dollars, almost all of our savings for the previous treatments and surgery. We are two students that one just graduated and started working this summer. We have to pay tuition and there is a baby expecting the next spring. We have tried our best now to have melodie get the first surgery and be back home but we are at this risk of losing her again due to the unexpected kidney failure some time. Her only left kidney needs to be monitored regularly for the rest of her life and each time the x-ray plus ultrasound cost ~$400. She also has to be taking special vet diet. And the worst case, when the left kidney get advanced diseased, the only option is to take a more expensive surgery than this time which is unaffordable for us right now. After my graduation and finding a job later, things might be getting better. But it won't be that easy with a new-born baby. And I don't know if melodie will manage to survive to that time. We establish this fundraiser trying to build a small fund for the regular medical care and potential surgery cost. Basically we wish it is very small money from as many as possible good Samaritans considering that won't be a burden to you either. So please share this post to your friends and friends...wish melodie will be capable of staying with us for at least several more years. If there is any amount left and she doesn't need it or we can afford it by ourselves, we will donate the left money to cat emergency care funding groups.
