This fundraiser has been organized for Sha-La Criscitello, to help offset medical costs while she is recovering from a stroke. She needs support from friends and family while she is recuperating. Donate to this fundraiser! Show her how much you care!

Sha-La Criscitello is a beautiful, vibrant, caring, intelligent, and strong 25 year old women, to say the very least. She is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a great friend, and an inspiration to everyone who has had the honor to get to know her. She has prevailed over many challenges in her life, but now she is facing her greatest obstacle yet. In 2008, Sha-La underwent gastric bypass surgery to help overcome her life-long struggle with obesity. The surgery was successful in facilitating her weight loss but also left her body fatigued, frail, and malnourished. She battled medical complications from her surgery for almost 2 years while still managing to work full-time at Future Faces daycare center and excel in classes at BCC, eager to earn her college degree. Then, in May 2010, Sha-La and her family were devastated when she suffered 2 strokes and a seizure, just a few weeks prior to her college graduation, leaving her in a coma for almost 2 weeks. Sha-La, being the resilient, strong woman she is, fought her way out of the coma and off the ventilator, but is now left with damage to the frontal lobe of her brain, causing memory loss, paralysis, and speech difficulties. She is just beginning to relearn tasks that most people take for granted, such as, speaking, eating, and properly maneuvering her arms and legs. She is currently at Binghamton General Hospital in a rehab clinic for stroke victims but will soon be going home to her sister Susan’s home, to continue her recovery. Sha-La has made tremendous progress since her strokes but the road to recovery is still a long one, and she needs your help! As you would imagine, medical bills have piled up over the past 6 weeks, and will continue to accumulate, even after she’s home. She will need at-home nursing care, medical supplies (including a hospital bed, dressings for pressure ulcers, a wheelchair and much more), and physical therapy for an indefinite amount of time. Her recovery will be demanding and strenuous for her but you can do your part to assist her by donating money to lessen the financial burden on her and her family. Don’t hesitate, even if you can only donate a few dollars, every penny counts!!! So c’mon everyone, show Sha-La your support by donating to her medical expense fund!! Sha-La and her family need your help during this difficult time!!!! You can help us reach our goal! Thank You in advance for your generosity!
