Hi my name is Donovan Wilson I'm 21 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on June 28, 2011. Before I was diagnosed I was attending Wilberforce University in Daytona, Oh. When I left college for summer break my tonsils was swollen I went to the emergency room and they told me that I have tonsillitis, a week later my right side of my neck started to get swollen and then a week later after that my left side got swollen. I went back the emergency room and one again they told me that I have tonsillitis but I needed to go see an ENT Doctor. I went to go see the ENT Doctor and the doctor had a feeling of what I had, they stuck a needle in my neck for a biopsy and that came back that my cells was distorted. The doctor sent me to have surgery so he could take out one of my lymph nodes. On Tuesday June 28th, 2011 is when my mother and I got the news that I have Cancer. That night I was admitted in the hospital, my Hematology Dr. told my mother and I that I would've died in weeks because I would've suffocated due to the fact that my tonsils was closing. I was receiving intensive Chemo. On Oct 3rd, 2011 I received a Chemo treatment call Asparaginase, on Oct 7th I was having chronic pain on my upper side, my mother rushed me to the hospital and the told us that I have Pancreatitis. I was admitted in the hospital and found out that 90% of my pancreas was dead tissues and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I stood in the hospital for 25 days. The day I was discharge my mother had to rush me back to the hospital because I was still in pain, had a high fever and my sugar level was high. Once again I was admitted in the hospital a week later I had a severe case of an infection in my stomach that turned in to pus, they told my mom that they need to do an emergency surgery because I would've died due to the fact that the infection was getting into my blood stream. My mother was trying to juggle her job and trying to be my caregiver, well she lost her job in November and eventually we got evicted in February because we couldn't afford paying the rent. We lost all our furniture in the process. We had to live from house to house for a long time my mother and I was seperated for a long period of time. My Oncology Dr. told me that I needed a Bone Marrow Transplant or my Leukemia would come back since I couldn't continue on getting Intensive Chemo. So on April 13th, 2012 I received my Bone Marrow Transplant. I am in and out of the hospital because I have Graft v Hoist Disease which is attacking my GI Tract and my Colon. As of right now we are staying at the Ronald McDonald House until Aug. 1st. We really need this money so we can relocate to New York because my mother and I have no support system out in Ohio, my mother has no ways to make any income because she doesn't have another person to watch after me the only people that are willing to help us out is my grandparents and they live in New York and we need help with leaving, find an apartment and furniture so we could get back on our feet when we move to New York. Please look inside your hearts and help us raise money Thank You and God Bless everyone.
