Jack's family is uniting to get baby Jack the surgery he needs.

Jackie is our 3 year old beloved long haired mini-dachshund. He is sweet, funny, and extremely loving.

About 3 weeks ago poor Jack started having bloody stools, we took him to the vet, and they first thought it was just a little bit of colon irritation. He was on medication for two weeks, but the bloody stools did not subside. After a second check, they found a mass in his colon. The vet feared that it might be cancer, so she advised that we take him to the University of MN animal hospital. While there, Jack underwent a $1500 colonoscopy and surface biopsy. At this time he has been tested, and biopsied but the tests are showing as inconclusive for cancer.

The University is saying that they will have to perform surgery to remove the mass, so that one, his colon will no longer be blocked and cause him great distress when he has to go to the bathroom; and two, so that they could study the mass and identify what it actually is.

Without being too unrealistic the doctors are leaning towards the side of not cancer, simply because of his age, and the lack of the tumor's spread. However, he needs an ultrasound this Friday (about $300) and he will still need surgery a few days after that ($3500-$4500)

Jackie is a heavy favorite in our household, he is dearly loved by me, my wife, our three children, and his two siblings.

Jackie has cheerfully listened to all of our life stories. He has laid his head on our lap in support for when our day was just not going that well. He has been a snugly bed time companion for our kids, a trusted friend to my wife and I, and an ever vigilant guard dog to the treat cabinet. Our family would love nothing more than to give Jackie a chance to live his full happy life. I do not generally like asking for help, or assistance, and I know everyone is struggling financially right now. However, this puppy has truly burrowed his way into my heart, and we love him like any other member of our family.

As with all of G-d's living beings and creations we hope and pray that G-d shows favor and kindness to Jack. That He helps Jack through his pain and suffering, and eases his family's pain and suffering through faith and spiritual healing.

To all of our friends, family, and kind strangers we truly appreciate anything that you can give be it $1.00 or $100. Every little bit helps. We certainly understand that these tough economic times are a burden to everyone's financial well being, but maybe it is also an opportunity to start really being there for our community and neighbors in need.

Whether your support be financial, intellectual, or verbal. THANK YOU!
