The family of Alex Rivera are raising money to help Alex with his third fight against Rhabdomyosarcoma a rare form of cancer. Please help.

For the past 3.5 years I have been living with a sadness and fear, that I will lose my son to cancer.

In the summer of 2009 my 14 year old son Alex was diagnosed with Embrynol Rhabdomyosarcoma a rare form of cancer. Rhabdo is a soft tissue cancer and is so rare only 500 kids in the U.S. are diagnosed with it a year.
The cancer started in his testicle and traveled to his neck and lymph-nodes. He had 3 months of intense chemotherapy, radiation and a major surgery that removed his testicle and lymph-nodes in his abdomen and neck.
A year and a half later his cancer came back. He did 9 months of chemo and 1 month of radiation. 3 months after treatment Alex had an ex-ray taken after a minor surgery to dilate his esophagus and they found more cancer on his lung.
Alex's Doctor gave us 2 choices we could not treat him and make him comfortable or we could try chemo one more time, but he didn't think chemo would work. He said the cancer would become resistant to the drugs and the treatment would not work. Or the chemo would be too strong and Alex would want to quit treatment. My wife and I were devastated, we cried every day.
We chose to try chemo again. Alex's Doctor ordered a feeding tube be placed in Alex's Stomach because he had lost a lot of weight (he weighed 91 pounds) and we started intense chemo again. I prayed every night that Alex's treatment would work. I also prayed that he would be strong enough to complete his treatment.
We are now half way thru treatment and Alex's first scan shows that his cancer is going away. His Doctors said his cancer has significantly shrank. And he has not asked to quit once. Alex has also gained 29 pounds he now weighs 120. It is a miracle that Alex has made it this far.
At the end of chemo Alex will start radiation therapy. His Radiologist says he will lose the use of his right lung. I don't have health insurance where I work. My wife has insurance thru her work but it is about to run out. She has been on family leave to take care of my son and has used all her family leave. She has also lost her position at work.
Alex is a very strong kid with a kind heart. He loves animals and always thinks of others first. Alex wants to go to art college and become an artist. He is currently studying for his G.E.D. while at Doernbechers. This has been very hard on us emotionally and financially.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and we thank everyone so very much.
