The family & friends of Kevin Dodge & Matthew Oliver unite to raise money to help with medical costs after their kidney transplant!

*** NEW UPDATE! WE ARE 3 DAYS AWAY FROM CLOSING THIS FUNDRAISER! HOW ABOUT ONE MORE PUSH?!!***

On May 9th, 2011, two days after his 28th birthday and the day after Mothers Day, Kevin Dodge will be receiving a kidney from his best friend, Matthew Oliver. Kevin and Matt have been friends for the past 24 years. They first met in Pre-Kindergarten at Assembly Christian School in Lafayette, Louisiana. Even when they were no longer attending the same schools, they still remained close through their love of drawing, video games, cartoons and imagination. Throughout their lives, their friendship has remained strong. They consider each other more brothers than friends.

Kevin grew up and still resides in Broussard, Louisiana. He currently works part-time as a Master Control Operator for a local news station, KLFY TV10, in Lafayette and is engaged to his girlfriend, Lauren. Matthew is now living up north in Bastrop, Louisiana, with his wife, Elisha. He is currently working as a teacher.

For testing, Kevin had to travel back and forth about 145 miles to New Orleans, while Matthew has had to travel almost double of that. For the transplant, Matthew will be in the hospital for a couple of days, but will also lose a significant amount of time from work while recovering. Being that he is a donor, the surgery will be covered, but any/all visits after that will have to come from his pocket. Kevin will have to stay in New Orleans for a short time after the surgery while they make sure his body doesnt reject the new kidney. After this is done, he will have to travel back and forth again every other day, then every 2 days, then every week, then every other week, etc. in order to keep running these tests.

A lot of people think that once the surgery is done, the worst is over. Most people don't think of the additional traveling, the overnight stays, the doctors visits, and the medication that will come afterward. It will all add up. To say thank you to Matthew Oliver and to help Kevin over the hump of the surgery, I have created this page.

A gallon of gas is drawing close to $5 and that is the perfect start for a donation. All of your generous contributions will go straight to Kevin and Matt's future doctor bills and travel expenses. One anonymous contributor has already agreed to match the first $500.00, so your contribution could be doubled if you join in quickly.

In addition to giving, please keep these boys in your prayers for the upcoming surgery and the long process after. From the bottom of my heart, the Dodge & Oliver families deeply appreciate your gift.
