The family and friends of David Olson are uniting to raise money to help with his battle against pancreatic cancer.

Over the past year, my family has been plagued with pancreatic cancer. Last September, my maternal Grandmother lost her battle a short three weeks after finding out she was diagnosed at the age of 80. A couple months ago my family received the devastating news that my uncle, David, on my maternal side was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the age of 47. The diagnosis came to a shock to the entire family as my uncle had just spent a weekend mountain biking with friends, being his normal active, free spirited self. As soon as my uncle found out he was sick, he was forced to quit his job. This meant hardship to his wife and two kids, Jade, 12 and Blake, 10. Julie, his wife, is not able to focus on her business that she started a couple months prior to David being diagnosed as she is the sole caregiver to my uncle. She is constantly shuttling him to the hospital for chemo sessions or the Emergency Room as he is constantly ill. Not only has my uncle been battling this deadly disease, he has also been hospitalized for a blood infection and heart problems. Needless to say, David’s family is enduring hardship they have never had to face before. It has been brought to my attention that my uncle and his family are now living solely off of donations from their church due to their savings being depleted. He has applied for state assistance and social security but as we all know, anything having to do with the Government takes forever.
I have set up a small fundraiser in hopes to raise a little money for David’s family to help them get through this difficult time. The donations will be used for medical expenses as well as household financial expenses. Any amount you are able to donate will mean the world to my uncle and his family. If you are not able to donate, please take the time to better educate yourself on this silent killer.
