This is the Save Ginger Surgery Fundraiser. All contributions will be used for medical costs and related expenses.

Ginger Snaps is a wonderful 6 month old schnauzer puppy that belongs to my good friend Alfred. She is a bright spot in his life. Alfred has, himself, been in the hospital for nearly four weeks now with a broken leg and multiple other medical difficulties.
Three days ago when we brought Ginger back inside along with our other schnauzer we noticed that she was limping badly. The family here at the house along with myself asked another good friend of Fred's, a woman who breeds schnauzers and has an unending amount of love for animals to come over and take a look. Upon further examination we found her back leg to be un-responsive, as though she couldn't feel it at all. It was the general consensus all around that she be taken to a vet as soon as possible.
We live in a low-income household. I myself, am disabled and am on a set income. Financial instability aside, all of us were on pins and needles about discussing this with Fred. As it happened, Fred called us the next morning and said, “What's wrong with Ginger”, he said he could feel that there was something wrong with her. Sort of an intuition. The news of Ginger's injury was hard for Fred to deal with. Not wanting to see Alfred slip into depression at this crucial time in his recovery, his family did everything they could to get the money necessary to get Ginger to the vet (recycling, scrapping, selling anything available). After the initial veterinary exam an x-rays we came to find out that Ginger has a Mid-shaft Femur Fracture (Rightside).
The procedure to set Ginger's leg cost's $700. We also have to contend with follow up medical care, (medications etc..). What's happening to this little dog and how it effects Alfred has already made a huge emotional impact in our home. Alfred' s friends have been here day and night to take care of Ginger until we were able to get her to the vet and to support Fred through all of this. Speaking as someone who has battled depression for many years I know about the bond that exists between a person and their pet, especially if they're emotionally downtrodden and if that bond is broken how much worse things can get. Putting Ginger down is not an option!
Any contributions you could make toward the cost of the surgery or the follow up care would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You So Much,
