Raising money for the Cure for Traumatic Brain Injury Walk-a-thon on October 21, 2012. Thanks for your support!

In 2006, my wonderful mother Jan suffered a traumatic brain injury when she fell and hit her head on concrete outside of our home. Due to this injury, she has suffered and most likely will continue to suffer from various cognitive disabilities such as memory and processing difficulties, balance and vertigo issues, no sense of smell, limited sense of taste, and more.

Being by her side the night of the accident in the hospital, as well as witnessing her slow "recovery" and her hardships over the past few years, I am strongly moved to support a cause that benefits the research of traumatic brain injuries.

I am walking in the Coalition for Brain Injury Research annual “Cure for Traumatic Brain Injury Walk-a-thon” in Clifton, NJ on October 21, 2012 and I need your help! I'd love to bring a large donation with me that day, in honor of my mom.

I so badly want my mom to have her full life back—one where she doesn't have to feel overwhelmed by simple tasks, where she doesn't have to feel discouraged and blame herself that tasks do not come easy to her anymore. I want her to feel happy again. Maybe with more research, we can figure out how to reverse the effects (or at least better treat them) of traumatic brain injuries.
