This is the Chuck Hines Kidney Donation Fundraiser.

The funds will be used for kidney transplantation costs and related expenses not covered by Medicare. We can schedule the operation (and give my dad life) as soon as the monetary goal is reached. Dear friends, relatives and new friends of my father, Chuck Hines. I need your help. As many of you know, Dad has been in renal failure (kidney) for a couple of years now. He is on dialysis treatments 3 times a week, which keeps him alive. Without dialysis, death is a certainty within weeks for most kidney diseased patients. Dialysis performs the functions of the kidney, but cannot provide the required functions of a normal kidney working 24 hours, 7 days a week. The average mortality rate for dialysis patients is 5-7 years. My dad has been on dialysis going on 3 years now. The only cure for chronic renal failure (End Stage Renal Disease) is transplantation of a functioning kidney. There is good news on this front. Medicare and St. Lukes Hospital has approved Dad for a kidney transplant. His cousin, Jeff Bowen has volunteered to be the kidney donor. This will circumvent getting on a waiting list for a kidney, which could take several years, if available at all. There are thousands of kidney patients with few kidneys available. Many die waiting for a transplant. These two issues are huge and we are so thankfull to Jeff and the transplant team. We have one more hurdle. The cost of a kidney transplant is about $125,000.00. Medicare pays 80% of most of those costs. The estimated amount of uninsured medical expenses is around $20,000.00. We must show that these funds are available before the hospital will proceed with the transplantation schedules and procedures. We are asking for donations in any amount to help mitigate those out of pocket costs. The disease has exhausted all of my fathers resources to date.  Your contributions will allow my father to have a normal life again and live long enough to perhaps see his grandchildren one day.  Once this monetary goal is reached, my dad will receive the transplant.  It's the only thing holding us back right now. All  information is secure here at www.giveforward.org.  If making a donation by check, please make it out to "The Chuck Hines Kidney Fund" and mail it to: c/o Barry Hines 19403 Papago Ct. Tomball TX, 77377. On behalf of the entire Hines family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity.
