Family and friends of Nathan Spilly are donating money to help Steve Lawlor with medical costs relating to cancer.

Nathan Spilly, who just turned 8 years old on April 13, has decided to forgo birthday presents this year! Instead, he is asking his friends and family to donate money in order to help me pay my medical bills associated with stage IV lymphoma. The donations you make to this site will be received directly by me, Steve Lawlor, to help with my fight against cancer. It is an uncommonly thoughtful and generous child who decides to forgo all birthday presents in order to help another. Does world hunger have a chance with Nathan Spilly around? This is the stuff of superheroes!

You might be asking; Who am I to Nathan? Well, if you know Nathan and his family, you know they travel to Crested Butte, Colorado, every year. I am one of their “Colorado Friends” often affectionately referred to by the Spillys and a few select others as “Bingo”. I’ve lived in Crested Butte for more than 18 years driving for the town bus service as well as working for a number of other local businesses mostly focusing on things that keep me and the people I work with outdoors and active. Not surprisingly, I met Nathan and his family through biking with his dad.

Unfortunately, late last year I was diagnosed with large b-cell and follicular featured Lymphoma. I have just completed my sixth and last round of chemotherapy. As we all know, just because the treatment ends, it does not mean the fight is over nor is it all paid for. I have been unable to work these past several months so the importance of your support; the support from family, friends, and community is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Steve
