Asparagus! Who grows it and where? Help me help the Lithuanians learn about asparagus and the farming industry. Please contribute.

This May my team from Fordham University will be going to Lithuania to help the local farmers to find better ways of farming their new crop, asparagus. In the last seven years, an organization in California has helped Lithuanians learn that asparagus could be a cash crop for them to export. In northeast Europe the locals are crazy for this new delicacy. Lithuania is trying to start farms in hopes of feeding the need for asparagus. They are trying to develop organic crops as well. Alone an asparagus plant takes three years to cultivate and on top of that it takes five years to prepare a proper organic farm. In addition, my team and I will be looking at the farming technology that is currently being used by small farms. We will be working mainly on the farm with planting seedlings but we will also spend some time learning about the research possibilities in the farming industry.

The cost of the trip is $1900 per person. Individual donations are essential to my success. There is more information about the Auksuciai Foundation at and Global Outreach at Please remember that all donations large and small are important to the success of the program GO Lithuania and that five dollars or $500 are greatly appreciated. I sincerely thank you for your consideration and support.

Warm regards,
Meredith Cunningham
