Running for a reason: Michelle Nicolay
Running a half in honor of an amazing lady, Michelle (Zavatsky) Nicolay, as she fights her battle with GI Melanoma.
As most of you know, our friend (and former NAC co-worker), Michelle (Zavatsky) Nicolay was diagnosed this past winter with one of the rarest most aggressive forms of cancer - GI Melanoma (stage IV). It was confirmed it had spread to her groin lymph nodes, liver, and lungs. We encourage you to read her full story at: www.caringbridge.org/visit/michellenicolay.
We had the privilege of working with Michelle (and Justin) at NAC for a few years. Over the years we've grown to know Michelle, she always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude, so it has been no surprise to us that she is on a mission and is determined to kick cancers butt! Her friends and family have also made it a mission to support her through her fight.
If Michelle can be so strong while fighting her battle, we want to run until we're numb, in her honor, and raise all the money we can for her! On September 21st, we will be running the 'Chicago Women Rock' half marathon in honor of one truly strong and inspiring lady!
All proceeds raised will go directly to the Nicolay family to help with their medical expenses.
Thank you in advance for your continued prayers, support, and contributions! If any of you ladies (sorry gentlemen, it's a women only race) would like to run with us (there is also a 5k and 10k), please email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
