Let's show Nancy how much we appreciate her. The funds received will help her get through her medical ordeal.

Nancy Spier, our art teacher at the Westford School, was traveling to see family in Colorado. She had a bad fall which required surgery due to numerous fractures of the pelvis. She has other injuries as well. After three and a half weeks in a trauma center and then a rehabilitation center, Nancy has returned to Vermont. She is grateful that it was not worse, but she is wheelchair bound for now as she cannot bear weight on her legs due to the pelvic fractures.

We think many of us parents can attest to the energy, dedication and love that Nancy puts into her part-time (2 days per week) job at the Westford School. The kids always seem to look forward to their weekly art class with Ms. Spier. It’s worth mentioning, also, that although Nancy’s job is only two days per week, she was often seen in school on other days of the week finalizing student’s projects, cleaning up her art room and doing whatever else was needed.

Because of Nancy’s injuries, she will not be able to return to her job at Westford School this year (we are hopeful that we will see her again when the kids head back to school in the fall). In addition, prior to the accident Nancy had just accepted a summer job of leading hikes at Smuggler’s Notch four days a week. She will not be able to fulfill that commitment either. Her doctors anticipate full recuperation, but healing and then rebuilding her strength will take a long time.

Please consider donating towards Nancy Spier’s recovery. This serious injury has placed her into a tough financial place.
