What if you were a young single mom and you were told you had terminal stage IV metastatic liver cancer??

UPDATE, November 21, 2012:  It is with great sadness that we announce that Andrea passed away very early this morning, surrounded by her family. She was 42 years old.

Andrea was initially given a prognosis of one year when she was diagnosed in early September, 2012. It was not to be.

We have been contacted by those who had planned to donate but were unable to do so because the fundraiser ended early (at Andrea's request). For those who wish to donate, a fund has been set up for Andrea's sons. You may donate directly to:

Soloman Boys Fund
c/o Watertown Savings Bank
60 Main Street
Watertown, MA 02472

We thank you for your support. Andrea was overwhelmed by your kind words and your generous donations.

-- Friends for Andrea

What would you do if you found out that your friend, whom you've known for 25+ years, was given a diagnosis of *terminal* liver cancer? What if you knew she is a single mom with two wonderful, handsome young boys? What if your friend was undergoing chemo just so she can spend any time possible with her children, yet has been told that even with this grueling regimen, that she can hope for just one year more? And between the chemo and the pain from the cancer, you find out she is unable to work? And what if all this happened very suddenly, with no warning? What if there were no risk factors for this rare cancer, especially for someone so young, active and healthy? One month she has a clear physical and all is well and a few short months later she isn't feeling well and they tell her it is stage iv metastatic liver cancer.... what would you do???

I hope that, like us, that after you get through the utter shock of such a diagnosis, you'd want to do something to help. NO ONE should be worrying about utility bills, housing costs and medical expenses when they are fighting to just spend another year with her two young children. Any amount is gratefully accepted. We thank you for reading our plea.
