Amanda's fight against Fibrolamellar, a rare form of liver cancer. The funds will be used for expenses not covered by insurance.

Amanda was diagnosed with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma, (a rare form of liver cancer), in November 2009 at the age of 31. She was treated at Maine Medical Center were she had 50% of her liver removed along with a large tumor. Doctors were confident that the cancer had not spread. After 4 months of recovery, it seemed life would return to normal.

To our surprise, just 7 months after Amanda's diagnosis, a tumor was found in her left lung. Amanda went on to have 3 lung surgeries between July 2010 and January 2011. Along with frequent trips to Maine for scans and follow up appointments. As any one can imagine, it was a difficult time.

After her last surgery, we caught a break for over a year, with each scan coming back clear. This was a much needed break as we began to recover from the financial and emotional strain.

On August 14, 2012, this break came to an end. A recent scan revealed a tumor in her adrenal gland above her right kidney. In the coming weeks, Amanda will need to have another major surgery to remove this gland. The surgery will require a hospital stay in Maine along with a long recovery period at home. This is devastating news.

During this time, we are reaching out to our family and friends for help. Money for groceries, gas, lodging for myself as well other expenses not covered by insurance. I will be needing to take some time from work during her hospital stay and immediately following her return home to be with Amanda. So, again, we are turning to you for help so what little money we do have can pay our mortgage and basic bills.
